Usit
On-demand babysitting with trust and safety at the center

Design on-demand babysitting in a way that felt simple while carrying a higher standard for trust and safety.
Create parent and student portals, job posting, sitter applications, reviews, live location tracking, messaging, and photo requests.
A cohesive mobile product system for booking vetted local student sitters with safety built into the core workflow.
On-demand babysitting
Designing a digital product from an idea is always challenging. In the case of Usit, there was an added layer of trust and safety because of the nature of the offering.
Usit offered vetted local student sitters for parents on demand through a mobile app. The goal was to make the product feel as simple to use as familiar on-demand services, while carrying a much higher level of trust.
The app had two separate portals: parent and student. Each served a different function, but both needed a cohesive look and feel.
Finding the right sitter and live tracking for safety
To match parents with the right sitter, we designed a process where parents created a job post with all necessary details: time, location, pay, duration, and any other relevant information.
Students could apply, and parents could review each application, read sitter information and reviews from previous jobs, then book the right person.
Once a job was live, the sitter's location was tracked in real time and shown to the parent. Parents could also send a direct in-app message or request a photo from that location.

Trust as the main product feature
For Usit, trust was not a decorative layer. It shaped the architecture of the parent portal, sitter portal, job details, reviews, messaging, and live tracking experience.
The product needed to feel quick enough for on-demand use while still giving parents enough context to make a confident decision.
